A community orchard may be headed to Hillsboro’s Woodland Park if park officials and organizers of the Hillsboro Days horse pull can identify a suitable spot for the project.

A public forum led by city officials Tuesday night to share details on the orchard attracted fewer than 10 residents to the Hillsboro Community Center.

Hillsboro City Commissioner Levi Reese led the presentation, laying out plans for a 150-by-90-foot orchard lined with fruit trees and berry bushes.

The city received a $7,500 grant to pay for the orchard, which initially was targeted for placement in the Riverbend Addition on the northeast edge of town.
