Hillsboro city commissioners made quick work of their twice monthly meeting Monday, taking 30 minutes to handle a light agenda in the absence of two commissioners.
With no official old business on the agenda, commissioners revisited an item that continues to take shape – an autonomous bus to serve the community and provide potential research opportunities.
Commissioner Levi Reese, who has spearheaded the multimillion dollar proposal, updated the commission on plans to finance the plan via grants.
He noted that funding for the project’s grant writing is just $500 short of its $7,500 goal, with donations from Waste Management and American Crystal Sugar joining with the city’s commitment.
