Hillsboro civic leaders plan to roll out the red carpet Tuesday for state commerce officials touring the city as part of Gov. Doug Burgum’s Main Street Initiative visit.

Although Burgum won’t be in attendance, city officials are gearing up to host state Commerce Commissioner Jay Schuler and Jace Beehler, the governor’s policy adviser.

Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando said the half-day event will be a great opportunity to showcase Hillsboro and get input on revamping the city’s downtown.

After a bus tour of the city Tuesday morning, state officials will be shuttled to the Hillsboro Events Center for a question-and-answer session open to the public.

“I’d like to have maximum exposure on this and invite everyone to the gym,” Sando told the Hillsboro Economic Development Corp. on Monday night.
