Learning Circle owners look back on first year in Hillsboro

Joe and Bridget McGuire’s burgeoning day care chain will get a bit bigger starting today.
The owners of The Learning Center child care center in Hillsboro plan to hold an open house at 4:30 p.m. today for a new day care center they’re opening in LaMoure, N.D.
The debut of the LaMoure center – the ninth for the West Fargo couple – comes three days after The Learning Circle’s one-year anniversary in Hillsboro.
Reflecting on the past 12 months, the McGuires said they faced a learning curve when opening their site in Hillsboro after previously owning only one center in Jamestown.
“It’s a little different opening in a small community versus a bigger community,” said Joe McGuire, pointing to Hillsboro’s tight labor pool and smaller client base.
“But our first year went pretty good overall. There were no major hurdles, I’d say.”
