Kyle Stern of Hillsboro has been named North Dakota’s Peace Officer of the Year.
The state trooper with the North Dakota Highway Patrol was announced as this year’s recipient of the award during a recent meeting in Minot, N.D.
“I have absolutely no idea why I won,” Stern said. “I didn’t even know I was nominated. But being chosen for an award like this by your peers means a lot.”
According to a release from the State Patrol, the Peace Officer of the Year award is given to a law enforcement official based on an officer’s outstanding service, professional dignity and unselfish contributions to the citizens of North Dakota.
