Diehard Burros sports fans with an iPad, home computer or smart TV are in luck.
Between 80 and 90 Hillsboro-Central Valley sporting events will be live-streamed on a new YouTube channel featuring an on-air announcer during the 2019-20 school year.
Representatives for Halstad Telephone Co. and R&J Broadcasting announced the creation of the channel Wednesday during a presentation to the Hillsboro School Board.
Jim Birkemeyer, president of R&J Broadcasting, said his chain’s KRJB Radio in Ada, Minn., airs about 30 to 40 Burros games on the radio per year.
His company’s partnership with Halstad Telephone will pay to hire a broadcaster to attend nearly every Burros home game and a chunk of their road contests starting this fall.
The streaming channel will debut in September and cover H-CV’s football, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, baseball and softball teams – and an occasional home track meet.
